Who We Are: We are members of the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) and an NRA sanctioned Club. All SASS rules apply. We shoot period-correct (pre-1899) guns (either originals or replicas). Examples: Single Action Revolvers, Lever Action Rifles, side-by Side Double Barrel Shotguns and Pre-1899 Pump or Lever Action Shotguns. Competition is staged in an Old West Setting and is a timed event - usually consisting of five stages. We have a great group of cowboys/cowgirls that are always willing to help you out in any way. Our new President is Dirty Dutch (Duane Van Arkel), Vice President is Trixie LaTules (Kat Gee), Treasurer is Saddlebag Vic (Vic Compton), Secretary is Madame Pearl (Mary Sayman), Scorekeepers are Madame Pearl (Mary Sayman) and Trixie Latules (Kat Gee), and Match Director is Dusty Drifter (Bub Compton). Our main club is Tioga County Sportsmen's Association, which has about 600 members. Shootin Dates: The 2012 season starts with an indoor shoot on February 4th 22cl rifles and regular match pistols. No shotgun. No blackpowder. The 2012 outdoor shoots are: April 7th - weather permitting May 5th June 2nd July 7th August 4th August 24th, 25th and 26th - The Showdown at Fort Tioga (pre registration required) September - NO SHOOT! October 6th - Shooter Appreciation Day, lunch is on us November 3rd - weather permitting Shooting Agenda: Registration is 8:30 am to 9:30 am. A salute to our Nation and Safety brief at 9:45 and shooting starts at 10:00 AM. We normally shoot 5 stages, each stage a cleverly constructed scenario of an old West event (fact and fiction). Then each posse member usually shoots his pistol, rifle, and shotgun at the targets, in the prescribed manner explained by the posse leader. Each shooter hopes to hit them all in a short period of time, that seldom happens. A home cooked Lunch will be provided by the TCC members for a $5.00 fee. After the shooting is done. If there is any interest, our Match Director, Dusty Drifter will keep a stage or two open after the main match is over. This will be for shooters to get more practice and preparation time for upcoming large shoots or just for more trigger time. It will also be a perfect venue to take new shooters to give it a try without being in the main match. Any new shooters interested, please contact Dusty Drifter ahead of time an he will make sure there is everything you need there to try it out. Contact Dusty Drifter at (607 659-4770 (days) or (607) 760-5746 (cell) or e-mail him at comptonscabinets@stny.rr.com. |
